Oliver L. "Dutch" Smith

Oliver L. "Dutch" Smith, 83, of Colusa, Illinois died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at his home.

He was born June 19, 1924 in Dallas City, Illinois, the son of William Reine and Eva Mary Fry Smith. On June 19, 1943 he married Lucille Rodeffer in Kahoka, Missouri.

Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of the Colusa area. He had farmed, driven an oil truck, worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant, and retired from the Colusa Elevator.

Survivors include his wife, two sons - David Smith of Dallas City. Illinois, James W. Smith of Davis Illinois, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one sister - Cecilia Todd.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday August 29, 2007 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Beckie Laumeier officiating. Burial will be in the Terre Haute Cemetery, Terre Haute, Illinois. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Banks & Beals, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association.
