Norma L. McSparen, 89, of Lomax, Illinois, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at her son's home, near Lomax.
Norma was born March 11, 1934 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Charles "John" and Amble (Dowell) Pence. On April 16, 1949 she married Joseph McSparen in Gladstone, Illinois. He preceded her in death March 4, 1986.
Norma lived all of her life in the Lomax area. She worked at the Lomax Canning Factory, IAAP in Middletown, Iowa and as a home health nurse for the Henderson County Health Department. She enjoyed trips to the casino and spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include two sons: Gary (Linetta) McSparen of Lomax and Tracy (Doris) McSparen of Wayland, Missouri; 6 grandchildren: David McSparen, Lindsay Cochran, Ryan McSparen, Katie Ludens, Anthony Cabral and Timothy Cabral; 7 great-grandchildren: Lance Ludens, Graysen Ludens, Annie Cochran, Addalyn McSparen, Wyatt McSparen, Isaac Cabral and Tristan Cabral and two siblings: Milford Pence of Lomax and Doris Hawley of West Burlington, Iowa.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Ted McSparen; three grandsons: Michael, Stephen and Daniel McSparen and one sister: Barbara Fisher.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will follow in Crane Cemetery, near Lomax.
