Nickalas J. Huston, 77, of Dallas City, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 1, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, to Max and Norma Huston.
Nick graduated from Mt. Union High School and went on to attend Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. He served in the United States Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in September 1974.
From 1974 to 2016, Nick built a respected career as a General Manager for Mid County Feed & Grain, Ceres Grain Corp, Italgrani Green Bay Elevator, Colusa Elevator, and CGB. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the industry and those he worked with.
In 1989, Nick married Frankie Huston, and together they made their home in Dallas City. He is survived by his wife, Frankie; son, Jason Huston (Melissa) of Ottumwa; daughter, Jami Carrico (Matthew) of Oconomowoc, WI; stepson, Kyle Harris (Rae) of Lenexa, KS; and stepdaughter, Jessi Harris of Chicago, IL. He is survived by 7 grandchildren, Taylor, Haley, Aden, Macy, Oliver, Graham, and Cora. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Norma Huston, and his sister, Nancy along with twin brothers, William and Mark.
Nick had a passion for trains and planes and loved spending time cooking and working on projects around his home with Frankie. His humor, kindness, hard work, and dedication to his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A special thank you to the staff at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.
A memorial will be held from 3-6 pm on Thursday, March 13th at Green Bay Bar and Grill in Wever, IA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dallas City Community Events or local organization of your choosing.
