Obituary

Nell J. Mutter, age 83 of Fort Madison, Iowa, formerly of Dallas City, Illinois died at 7:50 a.m. Friday June 6, 2014 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living Center in Fort Madison. She was born June 20, 1930 near Dallas City, the daughter of Hugh and Dulcie Godsey Byers. On May 29, 1948, she married Harry Mutter in Dallas City.

Mrs. Mutter lived most of her married life in Dallas City. She was employed at Sheaffer Pen Company for many years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, cooking and crocheting. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and golfing.

Survivors include her husband, one daughter - Tara (Tuley) Elliott of Monroe City, MO, two sons- Bill (Terri) Mutter of Fort Madison, Jim (Deborah) Mutter of Quincy, IL, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four sisters- Kay (Fred) Sherwood and Norma Brandon, both of Springfield, IL, Willa (Duane) Covert of LaHarpe, IL, Frances Petersen of Dallas City, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Bunch, one sister, Beryl Collivar, and one nephew, Michael Brandon.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday June 13, 2014 at Harris Cemetery, near DallasCity, Illinois. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Alzheimers Association. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Dallas City is in charge of arrangements.
