Murphy T. Mapes, 46, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:03 a.m. at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.
He was born July 4, 1975, in Fort madison, IA, the son of Danny and Bette June Rice Mapes. On April 24, 2009 he married Kelly Windsor. They later divorced.

Murphy was a 1993 graduate of LaHarpe High School and attended Southeastern Community College. He worked at Winegard's in Burlington for over 11 years. Earlier in life he raced bicycles in the BMX Association. He enjoyed playing his guitar, shooting pool, wood burning, woodworking, whittling, and working in the yard. He liked to perform wheelies and other tricks on both his bicycle and his wheelchair. He especially looked forward to attending his daughter's violin concerts, their daddy/daughter date nights and attending his sons' sporting events and working on their bikes.

He is survived by his parents, Danny and Bette June Mapes of LaHarpe, one daughter, Emma Mapes of Burlington, two sons, Hayden and Hendrix Mapes, both of LaHarpe, one sister, Brenda (Mark) Rulon of Argyle, IA and two brothers, Bill (Stacey) Mapes of Simi Valley, CA and Michael Mapes of Hanna City, IL and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Addie Jo Mapes and his grandparents.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green, IL with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating.
