Mildred E. (Shipman) Lewis, 88, of Round Lake, IL, formerly of the Fountain Green/Webster, IL communities, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 after a long bout with Alzheimer's.

She was born January 26, 1931 in Fountain Green, IL the daughter of Margie M. And Cecil A. Shipman, Sr., the eldest of seven children. On August 14, 1955 she married Marion Lewis at the Christian Church in LaHarpe, IL.

Mildred was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, blessed with a serving heart, joyful attitude and always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. She is revered by her brothers and sisters who loved her dearly.

She is survived by four children, Michael, Marshall, Melanie (Jeff Simonsen) and Michelle (Arthur Kempf), six grandchildren, Lisa (Sean Laffey), Mitchell, Carolyn (Gabriel Kuttler), Brian, Rachel (Rudy Castaneda) and Nicholas, five great-grandchildren, Emilee, Caden, Ethan, Dillan and James, three brothers, Cecil (Iola) A. Shipman, Jr., Clifford Shipman and Henry (Sonja) Shipman, two sisters, Shirley (Paul) Gorrell and Carolyn Read, her sister-in-law, Janet Shipman and may nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marion, her brother, Carl, her brother-in-law, Vernon and her sister-in-law, Jeannie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Carthage, IL. Burial will follow in the Webster, IL Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 4:00 until 8:00pm Monday, Sept. 23 ^rd at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. A memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Foundation.
