Marjorie N. Meyers

Mrs. Marjorie Nora Meyers, 93, of LaHarpe, IL, formerly of Tennessee, IL, passed away at 8:49 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe.

She was born on July 17, 1921 in Portsmouth, England the daughter of Cecil and Nora Holmes. On May 6, 1944 she married Edwin H. Myers in Portsmouth, England. She and her husband met during a blackout at a dance. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2007.

Marjorie was educated in England and served three years in the Royal English Air Force. She and her husband owned and operated a restaurant in Tennessee, IL and a coffee shop in Fountain Green, IL. She was a member of V.F.W. and Eagles Club in Carthage, IL, the Order of Eastern Star, LaHarpe and a former member of Club 16. She enjoyed collecting pretty dishes and going on trips back to England. Marjorie valued her family the most in her life.

Survivors include, two daughters, Carole Kerfoot of Augusta, IL and Janet Allen of Burlington, IA, three grandchildren, Roger Kerfoot of rural Tennessee, IL, Rodney Kerfoot of Canton, IL and Angie Houston of Burlington, IA, six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Calvin and A. J. Kerfoot, Allie, Tobey and Jacob Houston and one great-great-grandchild Brynleigh Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green with Mark Hanson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center or the Fountain Green United Presbyterian Church.
