Deanna J. Mershon

Deanna J. Mershon, 66, of Knoxville, Illinois, formerly of LaHarpe, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 at 8:20 AM at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on May 28, 1944 in LaHarpe, the daughter of Clarence and Darthula Carter Petty. On June 1, 1962 she married Larry Mershon. They later divorced.

She was a graduate of LaHarpe High School. She lived most of her life in LaHarpe where she owned and operated the Country Caf. She also worked as a CNA at the LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center and was most recently employed at Methode Electronics in Carthage.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Mershon and Murray (Monica) Mershon, all of LaHarpe. Six grandchildren, Tiffany (Bill) Bangel, Kevin (Madison) Mershon, Kelsey Mershon, Nicholas Mershon, Caleb Mershon and Allison Mershon and one sister Isabel Starbuck, of Blandinsville and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, six half-brothers and three half-sisters.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Mark Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from noon until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
