Melissa Ann “Missy” Squier, 49, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 8:03 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2026 at her home.

Missy was born February 28, 1977 in Carthage, Illinois, the daughter of Jerry L. and Rosemary (Cox) Squier Sr.

Missy was raised in Fountain Green, Illinois, and attended LaHarpe High School. She most recently was employed by Casey’s in LaHarpe, until her health would no longer allow. She enjoyed riding four wheelers, dirt bikes, rock hunting and just being outdoors. She loved having fun and loved being “Momma Missy” to many of her friend’s children. Missy never let her cancer diagnosis bring her down. She continued to live life fully.

Survivors include one son: Cory Squier; three siblings: Jerry Squier Jr., Debbie Whittenberg and Mike McMillan; her significant other: Tracy Blacksmith; special friends: Melissa Taft and Carrie Cameron; her bonus kids: Emalyn and Aubrianna; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog: Khalifa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Arthur “Art” Squier and one nephew: Tyler Kiley.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2026 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.

Cremation will be accorded following visitation. No service is planned.
