Melinda Ann Downey

Melinda Ann Downey, 67 of Dallas City, Illinois died at 2:59 p.m. Monday March 12, 2012 in the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born November 1, 1944 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Frederick Edwin and Rita Meyers Vanderlip. She was married to Robert Downey in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Mrs. Downey was a registered nurse and had worked in Las Vegas, Nevada for many years. She moved to the Dallas City area in 2000 and had worked in a nursing home in Mediapolis, Iowa for several years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Dallas City.

Survivors include her mother, Rita Vanderlip of Dallas City, and one sister- Cherie Vanderlip of Niota, Illinois. She was prededed in death by her husband and father.
