Medardus “Hank” Bundy, 68, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, August 9, 2026 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Medardus was born June 29, 1958 in LaHarpe, the son of Harold and Theresia (Voorjans) Bundy Sr. On October 17, 1981 he married Tawnya McCarty at the Lomax Christian Church. She survives.

Medardus was raised in LaHarpe and was a 1976 graduate of LaHarpe High School. Following High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served with the VP-45 Pelicans while in the Navy. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Mediapolis, Iowa and began a career as a high steel painter. This job took his young family many locations, including Idaho and Columbia, Missouri. He then returned to LaHarpe and worked as a mechanic in Ft. Madison and lastly in Burlington. He also owned and operated The Bar in LaHarpe for many years. 

He enjoyed shooting trap, pool league, golfing, camping, riding his motorcycle and hanging out with his friends and family.

Besides his wife, survivors include three children: Josh (Katie) Bundy, Jeremy Bundy, Heather (Kris Conard) Bundy all of LaHarpe; eight grandchildren: Paige Webb, Camden Bundy, Greyson Bundy, Bryson Bundy, Peyton Bundy, Lucas Bundy, Kaydnce Maynard and Gunner Maynard and two siblings: Annette Cross of Fulton, Missouri and Avery (Kathy) Bundy of Decatur, Illinois.

Mr. Bundy was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson: Cody Bundy; one great-granddaughter: Nora Webb and one brother: Harold “Sonny” Bundy Jr.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2026 at the LaHarpe Christian Church.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the church with Pastor Nate McCarter officiating. Burial, with Military Rites, will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
