Obituary

Mrs. Maxine M. Carper, 89, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 2:45 PM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe, IL.

She was born September 12, 1924 in Plymouth, IL, the daughter of Luther and Mabel Hitz Stolp. On January 24, 1942 she married Ross R. Carper in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1992.

Maxine graduated from Brooklyn, IL High School in 1941. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant for 43 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dallas City. She was a resident of the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center for the last 16 years where she received loving care from all the staff members.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Elaine (Franklin) Pence of Myrtle Beach, SC and Shirley (Richard) Atkins of Dallas City, three grandsons, Douglas Atkins of Burlington, IA, Bryan Pence of Burlington, IA and Steve Pence of Overland Park, KS, six great-grandchilden, Kara (Atkins) Troyer, Kolton Atkins, Hannah (Pence) Schrock, Bethany Pence, Benjamin Pence and Jill (Pence) McGrew, three sisters, Mary Mower, Rachel Jamison, and Lucille Weaver and two brothers, Olin Stolp and Keith Stolp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, great-granddaughter, Kayla Atkins and one brother, Fred Lee Stolp

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Thursday, from 10:00 AM until time of services. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center or the Kayla Atkins Memorial Scholarship Fund.
