Mrs. Maxine L. Bell, 90, of Mendon, IL formerly of Colusa, IL passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 5:34 AM in the North Adams County Home in Mendon.

She was born February 18, 1922 in Dallas City, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Annie Ormand Stover Chewning. On June 5, 1943 she married Wayne E. Bell in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2010.

Maxine lived in the Colusa area for most of her life. She was a graduate of Dallas City High School. She helped he husband on the farm and with his trucking business.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Butler of Lima, IL and two grandsons, Cary Joe Summers of Carthage, IL and Randell Summers of Port Orange, FL.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, Cecil, Wilburn, Gilbert and Burnell Chewning, two sisters, Juanita Smyser and Frildo Ikerd and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Harris Cemetery, near Dallas City. Officiating will be Pastor David Poland. Visitation with the family will be held from 3:00 until 8:00 Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross.
