Mary M. Jacob Dennis
Mrs. Mary M. Jacob Dennis, 95, of West Burlington, IA passed away at 8:50 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

She was born on June 25, 1920 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Jesse R. And Ruby Dean Brooks. On August 4, 1946 she married Dean Jacob in Carthage, IL. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1982. On June 21, 1984 she married John Dennis in Burlington. He survives.

Mary was a 1936 graduate of the Carthage High School. She then attended Western Illinois University before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. While in the Navy she served as a WAVE. After her service, Mary returned home and received a bachelors degree for teaching from the Carthage College. She taught in Hancock County for over 30 years, retiring in 1974 from the LaHarpe School District. Mrs. Dennis was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the Community of Christ Church.

Survivors include her husband, John, one daughter, Carole (Dale) Warner of West Burlington, two grandchildren, Kelly (Randy) Fry, Matt Warner, three great-grandchildren, Madison and McKenzie Fry, and Tatum Warner, one brother, Chris (Soni) Brooks, one sister, Barbara Brooks, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Dean, four brothers, Dean, John, Jimmy, Danny, and one sister Dorothy.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the McKay Cemetery near Burnside, IL, with Ron Howell officiating. A memorial fund has been established for the McKay Cemetery and the Community of Christ Church. Contributions may be mailed to: The Mary M.
