Mary Margaret Day, age 85 of Blandinsville, Illinois, passed away at 2:34 a.m. Wednesday August 3, 2016 at Oakwood Estates in Stronghurst. She was born December 22, 1930 near St. Patrick, Missouri, the daughter of Ervin Michael and Rosetta Fryer Brennan. On June 20, 1951, she married Merle Day at St. Patricks Catholic Church near Raritan, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1995.
Mary Margaret was an active volunteer in several organizations. She enjoyed crafts, people, nature, traveling and visiting with friends. She was proud of her Irish heritage, and especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was active in "Teens Encounter Christ", and was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church near Raritan, IL. She enjoyed her collection of antique feather trees, and always lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include two sons, Steven (Wendy) Day of Mukilteo, WA, Stanley (Mary) Day of Macomb, IL, four daughters, Susan (David) Blender of Rutherfordton, NC, Sharon (Darrell) Bray of LaHarpe, IL, Sharla (Jim) Lenix of LaHarpe, IL, Sheila (Tracy) Wauzynski of Yakima, WA, 14 grandchildren, Erica, Mellissa, Shannon, Kirstin, Brennan, Irina, Brenna, Heather, Amber, Ryan, Brittany, Ashton, Stella, and Olivia, 6great grandchildren, William and A.C. Krohe, Luke Aldridge, Samantha Brown, Charley Jean Patrick, Penelope Brown, and her loving friend and companion, Kenneth Cooper of Marengo, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two grandchildren, Nathan Bray and Jessica Day.
A Rosary will be recited Friday August 5, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 pm. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. The Mass Of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday August 6th at St. Patricks Catholic Church near Raritan with Monsignors Tom Mack and Paul Showalter celebrating.
