Mark William Stevens

Mark William Stevens, age 54 of Dallas City, Illinois, died at 8:30 A.M. Sunday November 30, 2008 at his home. He was born January 19, 1954 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Donald and Martha Thompson Stevens. On December 26, 1994, he married Sheri M. Mona Roberts in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mark was a 1972 graduate of Lincoln East High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was employed as a Conductor for Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad for the past 35 years. He was the director of the Dallas City Youth Fishing Association and was a member of the Ideal Hunting Club, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, and the Brotherhood of Engineers. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved music, the Chicago Cubs, gardening, and his Busch Lite.

Survivors include his wife, his parents of Lincoln, Nebraska, two sons - Drake Dee Stevens of Olympia, Washington, Benjamin James Stevens of Dallas City, IL., two grandsons- Leland and Markus Stevens, one sister - Joy (Rick) Allen of Lincoln, Nebraska, one brother - David Stevens of Phoenix, Arizona, his in-laws, Sherry and Fred Zanotti of Litchfield, IL., and Jim and Carol Roberts of Leesburg, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, including grandfather -Base Bill Stevens.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday December 4, 2008 in the Dallas City High School Gymnasium. No visitation is planned. Memorials have been established for ABATE and the Dallas City Youth Fishing Association. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Dallas City is assisting the family with arrangements.
