Mr. Mario Antonio Gualtieri, 86, of Dallas City, IL passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his home.
He was born June 27, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the son of Antonio Mario and Clorinda Mary Cicero Gualtieri. On February 10, 1950 he married Dorothy Dietsch in Dallas City. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2005.
Mr. Gualtieri graduated from Crane Tech High School in Chicago and attended Cone Electrical School. He served with the US Marine Corps during World War II. He worked as a construction carpenter and also worked with his father at the Italian Village restaurant in Dallas City. He enjoyed wood working and building and working with computers. He was a member of the Carpenters Union of Illinois.
He is survived by three daughters, Nina Elliott of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Gina Gualtieri of Kewaunee, WI and Leysa (Dennis) Logan of Dallas City, one son, Mario Samuel Gualtieri of Aldi, VA, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and three brothers, Tony Butchy Gualtieri of Texas and Louis Gualtieri and Salvatore Gualtieri both of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Angela Blackman, one brother, Edward Gualtieri and one sister, Rose Balen.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 PM. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City with Father Tony Trosley officiating. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.
