Marie Fisher, age 87, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at her home. She was born October 8, 1934 in Rozetta, Illinois, the daughter of Leland James and Virginia Slagle Campbell. On July 3, 1955, she married Wendell Alan Fisher in Rozetta. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2006.

Marie and Wendell were in the grocery business most of their married life. They moved to California from 1960 -1969, then returned to Illinois and purchased their first store, Fisher's Food Center in Stronghurst, in May of 1969. They went on to buy and sell many stores over the years. She and her husband were also co-owners of Hend-Co Hills Golf Course, near Biggsville, for many years. Marie and her sister, Elsie, spent many hours planting and tending the flowers at the golf course. She loved traveling, and enjoyed spending winters in Florida, or somewhere in the south, for over thirty years. Marie grew up in the Rozetta Baptist Church, and attended the Stronghurst Christian Church with her family for the past fifteen years.

Survivors include one son: Jim (Char) Fisher of Stronghurst, one daughter: Cindy Fisher (Steve Good) of Lyons, CO, two grandchildren: Garrett (Jena) Fisher and Jaimee (Mike) Hines, seven great grandchildren: Harrison, Sloan, Elaina, and Simon Fisher, Olivia and Sydnee Hines, and Jesse (Miranda) Hines, one great great grandson: Hudson Hines, two sisters: Louise (Gene) Crawford of Pocatello, ID, Elsie Morris of Gladstone, IL, one uncle: Lyle Slagle of Coeur d'Alene, ID, two sisters in law: Gail Fisher of Waterford, WI, Wilma Campbell of Pittsburgh, PA, and one brother in law: Clarence Huntley of Monmouth, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Lee and William Dean Campbell, one sister: Carol Huntley, one brother in law: Richard Morris, and one sister in law: Kay Campbell.

The funeral service for Mrs. Fisher will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral Home. Memorials have been established for Henderson County Hospice and the Stronghurst-Raritan Ambulance Service.
