Margaret Ellen Nortrup

, 90 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday April 30, 2013 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born June 6,1922 in Waverly, Illinois, the daughter of John Alonzo and Bessie May Mapes Bacon. On August 7, 1940, she married F.D. Hap Nortrup in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2011.

Mrs. Nortrup worked in the office of the family business, Nortrup Petroleum Company for many years. She enjoyed her friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved sewing, square dancing and card club. She had been active in the Women Of The Moose, and was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Stronghurst.

Survivors include three sons, Dwight (Charon) Nortrup of San Benito, Texas, John Toby (Mary Lue) Nortrup and Jerry (Lou Ann) Nortrup, both of Stronghurst, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson- Randy Countryman, and three sisters- Thelma Pinson, Anna Muntman, and Irene Brian.

Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will be present from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. Friday. Moose Rites will be held at 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Friday. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery.
