Margaret Cratsenberg

Mrs. , 96, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 1:45a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.

She was born on February 5, 1917 near Raritan, IL, the daughter of Carl John and Helga Alida Reed Johnson. She was one of seven children. On June 30, 1946 Margaret married Roland M. Cratsenberg in the LaHarpe Christian Church. To this union was born one son, Rodney on September 3, 1952. Her husband preceded her in death on February 21, 1984.

Margaret was a 1934 graduate of the Terre Haute, IL High School. She was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church, the LaHarpe Senior Citizens, the AARP, and a former member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau. She lived all of her adult life in LaHarpe. In the early 1950's she worked at Cratsenberg Grocery in LaHarpe. Following her husbands death, she managed their farm east of LaHarpe. She was a devoted and loving homemaker and mother. She was blessed with many relatives that she truly loved.

She is survived by one son, Rodney Cratsenberg of LaHarpe, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cratsenberg was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Kenneth Johnson, infant Charles Johnson, 4 sisters, Clarice Eckhardt, Hazel Lund, Dorothy Bowen, and infant Esther Johnson.

Services will be held at 2:00p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with Nate McCarter officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation, but friends may call Thursday between 3:00 and 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Christian Church and the LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center.
