Mona Jean Stone, age 82 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 5:15 A.M. Tuesday May 20, 2008 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born October 19, 1925 in Carman, Illinois, the daughter of Frank B. and Mona Dixon Marsden. On February 16, 1944, she married Richard H. Stone in Oquawka, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 7, 2001.

Jean was a lifelong resident of the Stronghurst area. She was a graduate of Stronghurst High School, and had worked as a secretary for Stronghurst Grain & Merchandise for 23 years. She was a 64 year member of the Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church. She also served on the Stronghurst American Legion Auxiliary, and the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Auxiliary.

She is survived by 3 cousins - Mary Thurman of Carman, Illinois and Doris (Raymond) West of Biggsville, Illinois, and Kenneth Mead of Tarpon Springs, Forida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister - Jackie Marsden.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday May 23, 2008 in the Stronghurst United Methodist Church with Revs. Gene Turner and Ron Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday. Memorials have been established for the Stronghurst United Methodist Church and the Stronghurst Ambulance Service.
