Lucy Betsy Shephard, 89, of LaHarpe, IL, formerly of Galesburg, IL, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at her home.

She was born of December 20, 1928 in Woodburn, IA the daughter of Arthur and Bernice Scadden Sharp. She was first married to Ervin McConnell. He preceded her in death. She later married Robert Bundy on August 27, 1966. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1986. Lucy later married Fred Shephard. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2013.

Lucy retired from Shaefer Pen Company in Ft. Madison, IA. She was a member of TOPS and enjoyed collecting owl figurines, cooking, baking pies, sewing, mushrooming and fishing.

Survivors include four children, George (Ruth) McConnell of LaHarpe, Larry Helfrich of Washington, IA, Alice Reynolds of LaHarpe, Lois (Don) Harris of Quincy, IL, one step-daughter, Sonda (Steve) Laporte of Galesburg, IL, eight grandchildren, Michelle, Dawn, Chris, Shannon, Michael, Nicholas, Nathan and Patty, nine great-grandchildren, Gage, Noah, Raylee, Brodie, Kierstin, Zeak, Talon, Zeak and Kennedy, one brother, Walter Sharp of West Des Moines, IA, one sister, Betty Marks of Las Vegas, NV, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Mrs. Shephard was preceded in death by her husbands, two sons, Ray and Roger McConnell, two sisters, Mary and Ester, and two brothers, Carl and Henry.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Pastor Darrell Grimm officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Banks & Beals where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for MDH Hospice.
