Louise Ann Peterson, age 83, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at River Glenn of St. Charles. She was born September 15, 1937 in Cloquet, MN, the daughter of Carl and Olga Nyysti Blomster. On June 10, 1957, she married George Peterson in Arnold, MN.
Louise graduated in the class of 1955 from Cloquet High School, where she played clarinet in the band and was a co-valedictorian. She attended the University of Minnesota at Duluth, where she met her future husband, George Peterson.
As the wife of an Air Force officer, she moved around. After leaving Minnesota, Louise and George lived in Turkey, England, St. Louis, and Washington DC, but primarily lived in Hampton, VA and in O'Fallon and Swansea, Illinois. Although she never had a paying job, Louise was always working. She raised three boys and was an active volunteer for Faith Lutheran Church, the Cub Scouts, PTA, and the Grange.
She was well traveled. Early in her marriage, she toured the Middle East and Europe with her husband, then Hawaii, Alaska, California, and Washington, later in life. She enjoyed piano, sewing, square dancing, bowling and Reader's Theater. It was unfortunate that failing health forced Louise and George to move to assisted living in St. Charles, Illinois, from their home of forty five years in Southern Illinois. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of O'Fallon.
Survivors include her husband, three sons; Philip (Patricia) Peterson of Batavia, IL, Glenn (Catherine) Peterson of Bothell, WA, Ralph (Sandra) Peterson of Cross Plains, WI, ten grandchildren; Patrick, Kendra, Coral, Aurora, Bryce, Deston, Alexander, Tryn, Forrest, and Erik, and one brother; Steven Blomster of Duluth, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister; Mabel Haugen.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11 a.m. Friday June 25, 2021 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, Illinois, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the American Parkinson's Disease Association and Faith Lutheran Church of O'Fallon, IL.
