Mrs. Lorraine V. Jinx Elder, 88, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at 4:40 P.M. at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage, Illinois where she resided the past 51/2 years.

She was born June 15, 1921 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Lucille Benning Heim. On October 10, 1945 she married Joseph D. Elder in Harpers Ferry. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1999.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling, cooking and crafts.

Surviving are three daughters, Sandra (Sandy) Cole of Niota, Illinois, Linda (Dave) Lampe of Lockridge, Iowa and Marie Elder of Fort Madison, Iowa, a special niece, Shirley Gracey of Dallas City, 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City with Father Thomas Szydlik officiating. A private family burial service will be held at Harris Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for the Hancock County Nursing Home. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City is assisting with arrangements.
