Gail W. Logan

Mr. Gail Walton Logan, 94, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 11:25 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living, Fort Madison, IA. He was born on December 12, 1920 in Virginia, the son of Clarence Orville and Hazel Nolan Logan. On December 12, 1942 he married Vera Mae Sparrow in Tacoma, WA. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1983. He later married Barbara Howe Walters on March 18, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV.

Gail was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and earlier in life, operated the Lomax Canning Factory along with Lloyd and Beryl Sparrow. Gail loved gardening, hunting and mushrooming. He was a member of the Dallas City Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Stronghurst American Legion for over 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, two children, Sherrie (Terry Caldwell) Pence of Burlington, IA, and Dennis (Leysa) Logan of Dallas City, three step-children, George (Marlene) Walters of Dallas City, JoAnn (Dan) Flaherty, of Niota, IL, and Ricky Walters of Galesburg, IL, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Leafa Mae Budke of Fort Madison, IA.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 25, 2015 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Pastor Doug Clark officiating. Burial, with military rites will follow in the Carman Cemetery, Carman, IL. Friends may call after 4:30 PM on Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Ambulance Service.
