Linda Kay Martin, 74, Cheyenne, Wuoming, formerly of Raritan, Illinois, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, in the Davis Hospice Care Center in Cheyenne.
The daughter of Harry and Marie (Ross) Hawk, she was born March 23, 1944, in Greenbush Township, Illinois. She lived most of her life in Warren and Henderson counties, Illinois.
Linda married Ivan Martin on July 25, 1963, in Bushnell. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2014.
She was employed in several positions during her lifetime, including the Monmouth Pottery, Roseville Elementary School, LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Monmouth Nursing Home, and several restaurants, including Aunt Elsie's Café in Smithshire.
She was an avid reader, loved to cook and bake and enjoyed spending time with her children and great-granddaughters.
Surviving are one daughter, Iva Kay (Kevin) Horner of Cheyenne; five grandchildren, Jamie Roe (Steve Dixon) of Cheyenne, Dustin Roe of Arlington, Texas, Jared Horner (Hugo Estrada Jr.) of Denver, Colorado, Ashley Allison of Austin, Texas, and Bethany Thompson of Cleburne, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Adrienne Gilmore and Holland Dixon of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Bentley Rigsby of Cleburne, Texas, and Walker Roe of Austin, Texas; one brother, Rick Hawk of Davenport, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Beth Martin of Brandon, Mississippi; brothers-in-law, Leon (Donna) Martin and Merrill Martin, both of Monmouth; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Ron) Woodruff of Solon, Iowa, and Martha Martin of Monmouth; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and family friend, Charlie Furman of Roseville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years; a daughter, Lori Furman; two sons, Mark and Ron Martin; her parents; and a brother, Leroy Hawk.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Asbury Cemetery near Roseville, Illinois, with Pastor Lisa Unger Officiating. Memorials may be sent to the family at 5315 Liberty St., Cheyenne, WY 82001, to be donated to a Cheyenne non-profit organization. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family with local arrangements.
