Linda Lou Hughes, 72, of LaHarpe, IL died at 6:05pm Sunday, September 1, 2019 at her home.

She was born July 14, 1947 in LaHarpe, the daughter of Carl and Irene Chapman McKinnon. On July 27, 1965 she married Roger Hughes in LaHarpe.

Linda worked as an aide for 22 years at the LaHarpe School District. She loved reading, crocheting, puzzles and was known for her beautiful singing voice. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church. She truly loved the 12 mission trips to Mexico she participated in. Linda was a woman of faith and truly knew the word of God.

Surviving are her husband, Roger, one son, Aaron (Dawn) Hughes of Mt. Sterling, IL, two daughters, Stacey Sturek of Blandinsville, IL and Leanne (Chris) Haney of LaHarpe, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, Jack McKinnon of Dallas City, IL, and three sisters, Carol (Robert) Sargent of Blandinsville, Loretta (David) Anders of Kirkwood, IL and Wendy (Jim) Olson of Blandinsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, O.V. "Buster" Sights, brother, Mike McKinnon, sister-in-law, Mary Keith McKinnon and one grandson, Anthony Sturek.

Services will be held at 10:30am Thursday, Sept.5, 2019 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Nate McCarter officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00pm Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaHarpe Christian Church, MDH Hospice or the MDH Home Health Care.
