Leta F. Shell, 95, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away at 2:50 PM Friday, October 21, 2011 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

She was born on September 10, 1916 in Fountain Green, Illinois, the daughter of Miller and Lena J. Geddes Blackledge. On September 2, 1944 she married daniel F. Shell in Lompoc, California. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2005.

Leta was a retired beautician. She had owned and operated her own beauty salon. She was a member of the Fountain Green United Presbyterian Church. She and her husband moved from Fountain Green to LaHarpe in 1990.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 brother, Glen Blackledge and 1 sister, Helen Meyers.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2011 at the McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. No visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe is in charge of arrangements.
