Leslie Ann Linder
Leslie Ann Linder, age 48 of Carman, Illinois, died at 2:10 a.m. Friday September 16, 2011 in the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born April 27, 1963 in Peoria, the daughter of Jerry M. and Glenda M. Lane Edenburn. She grew up and went to school in the Dunlap School District until she moved to Carman in 1976. Leslie has one sister, Janine (Kenneth) Harkness of rural Carman. Leslie and Janine both graduated from Southern High School in Stronghurst, IL.
Leslie lived with her parents while attending Southeastern Community College. She had been employed at Hirsch, Link, Adams, Hoth, and Krekel; Cray, Walter, Cray, Loeschen and Goddard, then later was an administrative assistant at Great River Health Systems for twenty five years.
Leslie loved and was very active in the lives of her two nieces, Amanda S. Harkness Liggett and Alyssa M. Harkness, and her nephew, Joshua C. Harkness. She enjoyed attending their many school sporting events and taking them on day trips and vacations. While at a basketball game, she met her future husband, Marvin L. Linder, and his son Andrew L. Linder. Marvin and Leslie were married May 12, 2007 in Stronghurst.
Leslie and Marvin enjoyed spending time with family, especially their great nieces, Rozella and Dustie Liggett. They also enjoyed traveling, whether it be to Barney, Georgia or the the Peoria Area to visit family. They also enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home near Carman.
Leslie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and metastatic breast cancer in 2007. She was a strong person who fought the disease for many years.
Survivors include her husband, one step son- Andrew Linder of St. Louis, MO., her mother of Carman, sister - Janine (Kenneth) Harkness of rural Carman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father- Jerry Edenburn, uncle- Albert Leslie Edenburn, aunts- Nancy Campbell and Toni Killion and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday September 19, 2011 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Revs. Jeff Robbins and Bettyanna Bremer officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Great River Hospice House, American Cancer Society, or the Les Turner ALS Foundation.
