Leora May Lillard

Leora May Lillard, age 95 of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away at 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 3, 2015 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. She was born July 24, 1920 in Monticello, Missouri, the daughter of Herbert and Susan Bilies Hinton. On August 4, 1939, she married Evard Lillard in Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2006.

Mrs. Lillard lived most of her adult life near Stronghurst. She was a farm wife whose most important things were her family and her church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and canning, and was an active member of the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Alvis of Pekin, Illinois, Elaine (Kris) McElhattan of Stronghurst, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandchild, and ten brothers and sisters.

The funeral for Mrs. Lillard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 7, 2015 in the Stronghurst Christian Church with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Olena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for the Stronghurst Christian Church.
