Leo Dale Feikert, 81, of Blandinsville, IL went to his heavenly home at 7:12 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2021 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Roseville, IL.
He was born July 2, 1940 in Fountian Green, IL, the oldest son of Dale William and Effie Lucille (Ridge) Feikert. On July 9, 1962 he married Peggy Luan Shaffer at the Lutheran Church in Tacoma, WA. She survives.
Leo Dale attended Fountain Green School and LaHarpe High School. In his early years he farmed with his Granddad Ridge. Later he worked in the timber for Earl Swain Logging. In 1968 he joined the Laborers Union Local #991. He then worked several years for Hillyer Excavating of Macomb. He served as Fountian Green Township Road Commissioner from 1981 - 1989. Leo Dale also worked for several local trucking companies and retired from Ward Crop Service in 2002.
He was a lifetime member of the Fountain Green United Presbyterian Church, also, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he helped in the kitchen with the monthly fish fries. He enjoyed many motorcycle trips with family and friends and was a member of the Macomb Goldwing Riders Club. For several years, he and his family mowed cemeteries in the Fountain Green area. He also officiated at the Devils Bowl Race Track. Leo Dale was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed mushrooming.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy, two daughters, Lisa Greer of Blandinsville and Lori Feikert of Macomb, IL, two sisters, Marie Crabtree and Cathy Searsen, both of Keokuk, IA, one sister-in-law, Karen Feikert of Hamilton, IL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin infant sons, three brothers, Gary, John and Dennis Feikert and two brothers-in law, Bill Searsen and Jim Crabtree and his favorite dog, Quincy.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Bob Tillman and Mark Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fountain Green Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. Those in attendance are asked to please wear a mask. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Ambulance Service, Blandinsville Rescue Squad or the Fountain Green United Presbyterian Church.
