Leila Lorraine Lewis

, age 81 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 2:40 a.m. Monday June 9, 2014 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born July 7, 1932 in Princeton, California, the daughter of John and Lorraine Head Hagle. On May 14, 1950, she married Earl Wesley Wes Lewis in Marysville, California. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2001.

Mrs. Lewis lived in Chico, California for many years and in the Fernley, Nevada area from 1985 until 2008. In 2008, she moved to Stronghurst. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary and a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Silver Springs, Nevada.
She loved genealogy, fishing, knitting, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (James) Taylor of Macomb, IL, two sons, Earl Wesley Wes (Patricia) Lewis of Reno, NV, John Arthur (Nancy) Lewis of Quincy, IL, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one brother, Richard Hagle of Woodland, CA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, James Richard Lewis and one brother, John Bud Hagle.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday June 11, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A graveside service will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV at a later date
