Larry L. Spiker, 85, of Lomax, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home.
Larry was born August 25, 1939 in Lomax, Illinois, the son of Floyd and Helen (Bowlyou) Spiker. He was married to Sydney Pence. They later divorced. On November 8, 1975 he married Lois M. Peasley. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2014.
Larry was raised, educated and spent all of his life in the Lomax area. In earlier year, he worked for several local farmers. He was employed for a short time at IAAP. He spent most of his life working for JI Case in Burlington, retiring after 29 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed being able to work for local farmers again. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the memories made hunting and fishing with them. He was always ready to share a beer with any and everyone. He was a longtime member of the former Lomax Saddle Club.
Survivors include two daughters: Lari Jo (Jeff) Smith of Media, Illinois and Traci (Shawn) McKoon of Mediapolis, Iowa; three step-children: Steve (Tyyne) McIntire of Moline, Illinois, Vickie (Randy) McWhorter of Geneseo and Christine (Richard) Hanson of Morton, Illinois; five grandchildren: Ryan (Megan) Smith, Adam (Jenny) Smith, Colton (Jodi) Smith, Raychel (Curtis) Messer and Seth McKoon; numerous great-grandchildren and one sister: Sandie Dumse of Danville, Iowa.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one step-daughter: Peggy and four siblings: John, Donald, Vivian and one in infancy.
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held on February 9, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lomax Community Center.
