Larry D. Sears

Mr. , 77, of Macomb, IL passed away at 1:50 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA. He was born on June 11, 1937 near Dallas City, IL, the son of Gilbert LeRoy and Tressie Woodside Sears.

Larry served in the U.S. Army from September of 1960 until September of 1962. He was a truck driver and worked for Munson Trucking Company of Monmouth, IL, Midwest Connection of Iowa, and had retired from VSN of Abingdon, IL. Mr. Sears was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR. He was also an avid Fisherman.

He is survived by a special friend, Betty Willemsen of Monroe, IA, two daughters, Marie Chockley of Goodfield, IL, and Lori of TX, two sons, Steven Sears of Clinton, IA, and Brian Sears of Industry, IL, 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two brothers, Clinton Sears of LaHarpe, IL, and Harold Shorty Sears of Gallatin, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Derek, and one sister, Margie Evans.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with Rev. Jim Clayton officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow in the Pilot Grove Cemetery near Burnside, IL. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe American Legion Post 301.
