Larry F. Boone

Larry F. Boone, 76, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 9:35 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL.

He was born on June 14, 1940 in LaHarpe the son of Murlie E. and Margaret Petty Boone. On June 19, 1960 he married Carol Browning in LaHarpe. She preceded him in death on August
16, 1987.

He was a 1959 graduate of the LaHarpe High School. Larry held many jobs in his life many of which involved food. He worked in the grocery store as a meat cutter and then worked stocking grocery stores all over the state. He even owned a grocery store.

He created businesses such as, the flower shop that he and Carol had in various locations. He loved people and even got into their homes with various forms of sales such as fabric parties and sweeper sales. Most notably he was in the food business, owning The 8-Ball Caf, The Country Caf and Larrys Country View as well as the Traveling Chuck Wagon working with local auctioneers.

He managed a motel, apartment complex, storage facility, and worked a route filling the junk machine with stuffed animals and goodies the kids loved. He was a jack of all trades, a friend to all he met. If he didnt have a job hed create one and often included members of the family.
Larry was the director of Bicentennial Celebration where he was chosen as Man of the Year. He was instrumental in establishing the LaHarpe Summerfest Celebration. He was a member of the LaHarpe Lions Club and the Golden Rule Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Brad) Burt of Disco, IL and Rebecca (Max) Quivey of LaHarpe, one son, Scott (Michelle) Boone of St. Louis, MO, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two brothers, Roger Boone of LaHarpe and Randy Boone of Sioux City, IA.

He was preceded in death by his prarents, wife, Carol, and one brother, Gary Lee Boone.

Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Goettsche and Larry Hobby officiating. Burial will be held in the LaHarpe Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
