Dannie was born at home on November 9, 1932 in Versailles, IL. His parents Glen and Inez (Hartman) Kline cherished Dannie and his nine siblings. Dannie met his future-wife at a rollerskating rink and married Frances Ileen Guy on October 26, 1956 at a small ceremony in Lomax, IL. Together they had three children; Cathy, Ronnie, and Jody.

He worked for many years at CB&Q Railroad which eventually became Burlington-Northern Railroad. As the head welder, he travelled across the country repairing bridges so that trains could safely cross to get to their destinations. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way of Railroad Workers. In 1994, after 33 years of service, Dannie retired. A personal tragedy struck him that same year when his wife died. Dannie was thankful that his family and friends were there to ease his grief.

After retiring, Dannie continued to enjoy travelling to his favorite fishing spot in Minnesota and to any destination with a good rodeo. When at home in Lomax, he was frequently visited by his 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Dannie died on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Frances, his darling granddaughter Sadie Shaner, his brothers Richard and Rollin, and sisters Audrey and Ann.

He is survived by his children; Cathy (Jon) Schaefer of Lomax, Ronnie (Denise) Kline of Minonk, IL, and Jody (Kenny) Miller of Monmouth, IL; grandsons Michael (Laura) Schaefer and Matthew (Kelly) Schaefer; granddaughters Brandi (Anthony) Kline Hofmann of Minonk, IL, Trisha (Tanner) Kline Thomann of West Burlington, IA, Samantha Shaner of Stronghurst, IL, and Molly Shaner of Carman, IL; 2 step-grandsons; Jake Miller of Fairbanks, Alaska and Jared Miller of Monmouth; his wonderful great-grandchildren Harrison Anthony and Christian Patrick Hofmann, Nick Daniel and Carson Dee Schaefer, and Colton Lynn and Megan Ann Schaefer and Cash Alan Thomann; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jordan Miller of Fairbanks and his siblings; Mary Fedler of Fort Madison, IA, Jack Kline of Dallas City, Dorothy Hein of Stillwater, MN, Max Kline of Mequon, WI, and Donna Brandel of Becker, MN.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Illinois with Rev. Larry Menschel officiating. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax. Friends may after 4:00 PM Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established.

Dannie was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
