Kenneth E. Harkness II

Mr. Kenneth E. Harkness II, 47, of Carman, IL passed away at 11:50 AM Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in The Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.

He was born October 29, 1964 in Burlington, IA. On May 25, 1985 he married Janine Edenburn

Ken worked at the Great River Medical Center as a surgical technician, he was a volunteer EMT and enjoyed coaching and assisting coaching his childrens softball and baseball games. Ken was a dedicated Broncos fan, as well as his sons biggest fan when he played in both high school and college. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janine, 2 daughters, Amanda (Harkness) Liggett of Carman and Alyssa (Harkness) Hawk and her husband Josh of Stronghurst, 1 son Joshua Cody Harkness of Carman, 2 grandchildren, Rozella and Dustie Liggett, his mother Doris Harkness of Burlington, his mother-in-law Glenda Edenburn of Carman, brother-in-law Marvin Linder also of Carman and his nephew Andrew Linder of Alton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Leslie Linder, son-in-law, Dustin Liggett, father-in-law, Jerry Edenburn and 1 uncle Howard Lane.

Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, IL with Rev. Bettyanna Bremer officiating. The family will meet with friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Following the services Monday, a luncheon will be held at the Marvin Linder home in Carman.
