Kenneth R. "Bud" Sheffler

Mr. Kenneth R. Bud Sheffler, 83, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:20 PM at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois.

He was born on May 23, 1928 in Gregory, Missouri, the son of Raymond and Dolly (Ward) Sheffler. On October 2, 1954 he married Carol Jones in LaHarpe.
Bud was a graduate of the Colchester High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He then farmed near Carthage and Stronghurst, IL. In 1960 he began working for Champion in Burlington, Iowa until retiring in 1990. He was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion Post 301. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cubs, Bears and the local schools sports teams.

He is survived by his wife Carol, 1 son Kenny (Nancy) Sheffler of Pheonix, Arizona, 1 daughter Cindy (Jim) Oliver of Danville, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, Bryant (Ritamarie) Little of Burbank, California, Jessie (Jessica) Little of Hamilton, IL and Blaire (Will) Burke of Burlington, IA, 3 step grandsons James, Don and Dustin Oliver, 16 great grandchildren, 1 sister Georgia (Ben) Cox of LaHarpe, 2 brothers Larry (Linda) Sheffler of Ellston, IA and Terry (Jacque) Sheffler of Canyon, TX and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Norma Hodges and Patricia Sherer and 1 brother Richard Sheffler.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Larry Hobby officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be held in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established for the Illini West Sports Programs.
