Miss Karlene Ann Gullberg, age 83 of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 18, 2018 at the Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center in Roseville, Illinois. She was born January 22, 1934 in Ponemah, Illinois, the daughter of Karl and Susie Brown Gullberg.

Miss Gullberg attended Liberty Chapel Elementary School and Kirkwood High School. In 1956, she received her B.A. degree in Science and Home Economics at Western Illinois University in Macomb. She later received her Master's degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She taught for three years in Fairview, Illinois and twenty seven years in Cahokia, Illinois, where she developed a chef training program for high school students. After retiring from teaching, she opened her "Susie Brown Antiques" business, named in honor of her mother, in the St. Louis area, and closed it prior to her move to Stronghurst in 2012.

Survivors include one sister, Susan Pfuehler of Cheney, WA, four nephews, Jon ( Diane) Gullberg of Media, IL, William (Chris) Gullberg, Jr of Kirkwood, IL, Kim (Sherry) Gullberg of Stronghurst, IL, Erich (Sara) Pfuehler of Pleasanton, California, and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Gullberg Sr.

Private graveside services will be held in the Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, Illinois. No visitation is planned. Memorials have been established for Family Outreach Community Center in Stronghurst and Ronald McDonald House. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family.
