Karen "Sue" Hunnicutt, 79, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage.

Sue was born on March 26, 1942, in Drakesville, Iowa, the daughter of Lee Lillard and Martha (Bemis) Lillard.

Sue was a 1960 graduate of Dallas City High School. Sue operated a children's daycare service in the Carthage, Dallas City, and the Champaign/Urbana areas all her life. She enjoyed reading, researching family genealogy, and taking her family to visit cemeteries to further research genealogy. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two brothers: Barry (Beverly) Lillard of Dallas City, Chris (Teri) Lillard of Plymouth, Illinois and step-brother Carl Lillard of Atwater, California; a special cousin: Marilyn Ross of Carthage and several other cousins; several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces who were like daughters to her: Holly Shipman and Heidi (Lee) Pindell and two special great-nephews: Ethan (Lauren) Lillard and Colten Shipman.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Donnie and Russ Lillard; and a step-brother: Richard Lillard.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Jim Luder officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery, Dallas City.
