Karen Joy Byers, 75, of LaHarpe, Illinois formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away June 30, 2019 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

She was born on November 20, 1943 in Blandinsville, Illinois the daughter of Loyd L. and Nancy Moore Breiner.

Joy attended Northwestern High School in Sciota, Illinois. She enjoyed camping, riding horses, crafting, time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson and shopping, shopping and shopping.

Survivors include two children, Tina Marie Stajcar of Centerville, Iowa and Todd Byers of Muscatine, Iowa, two grandchildren, Jack (Jacqueline) Stajcar and Lucas (Jacqueline) Stajcar, one great-grandson, Trent, and eight sisters, Dorothy Plank and Pauline Jones of LaHarpe, Charlene Wilson, Lucille (Edward) Luton and Deanna Truelove of Blandinsville, Illinois, Patricia (Lewis) Huston of New Boston, Illinois, Marilyn (Pat) Cahill of Burlington and Jo (Don) Frye of Muscatine, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lloyd "Gene" Breiner and four sisters, Louise Thompson, Thelma Figg, Virginia Kerfoot and Wyvonne Byers.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Rev. Rick Goettsche officiating.
