Josephine Harper Thompson, age 92 of Stronghurst, Illinois, died at 8:20 P.M. Tuesday February 26, 2008 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born October 3, 1915 in Valiant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Newton and Mary Terry Skinner. She first married Ray Harper. He preceded her in death. She later married Joseph Thompson. He also preceded her in death.
Josephine was a supervisor for Contadina Foods in Riverbank, California, where she lived mostg of her adult life. She was also an accomplished artist, whos work is displayed in several galleries. She was a member of the Federated Womens Club, the Escalon Grange, multiple art groups, and the Methodist Church of Riverbank, California.
Survivors include three daughters - Lena Greene of Fallon, NV., Janice Calhoun of Carman, IL., Paula Webb of Escalon, CA., three sons- Donald Harper of Oakdale, CA., Eugene Harper of Coeur dAlene, Idaho, Larry Harper of Ceres, CA., 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, one brother - Virgil Skinner of Modesto, CA., and one sister - Mary Walden of Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one son - Melvin Harper, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A memorial service and gathering of friends and family, will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday March 1, 2008 in the dining area of the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab, 604 Oakwood Drive, Stronghurst, IL. 61480.
