John McMillan Sr.

Mr. John C. McMillan, Sr., 73, of Blandinsville, IL passed away at 8:03 AM Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at The Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, IL. He was born on June 17, 1941 in Macomb, the son of Roy Henry and Geneva Reich McMillan. On March 26, 1963 he married Lois L. Dupoy in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2007.

John farmed his whole life, retiring in 1990. He was a talented musician, primarily playing classical guitar. He was a car enthusiast and a lover of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, particularly his 1948 Pan Head. He enjoyed bird watching and building bird feeders, watching movies, gardening, his farm pets, and bee keeping.

John is survived by a daughter, Alicia McMillan of Blandinsville, a son John C. McMillan III of Quincy, IL, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, John C. (Johnny) McMillan II, and an infant sister.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Homes in LaHarpe with Rev. Lee Unger officiating. Burial will take place in the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville. A visitation will take place from 12:00 noon until the time of service on Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established for Hearts of Hancock Humane Society.
