Obituary

Mr. Jimmy C. Cassiday, 63, of Lomax, Illinois passed away at 2:30 PM Friday, August, 12, 2011 at his home.

He was born October 6, 1947 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Carl E. and Betty L. Orndoff Cassiday. On July 3, 1971 he married Verona M. Bonnie Arch in Lomax.

Mr. Cassiday graduated from the Media, Illinois High School. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He then worked for the BNSF Railroad as a crane operator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He served as a scout leader for Troop # 63 in Stronghurst and was a member of the Stronghurst American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, Joseph of Lomax, Jimmy of Fairfield, Iowa and Michael of Franklin, Iowa, 3 daughters, Connie Neff of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Tammi Neff Smith of Lomax and Jamie Sue Cassiday of Lomax, 11 grandchildren, 3 brothers, John of Smithshire, Illinois, Jay of Monmouth, Illinois and Carl E. Cassiday, II of Galesburg, Illinois and 2 sisters, Nita Kay Cassiday and Shirley Cassiday both of Roseville, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Cassiday, a great-grandchild, his brother, Ernest Alan Cassiday, his parents, and a cousin Walter Cassiday.

Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Ellison Cemetery near Smithshire, Illinois. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, Illinois is assisting with arrangemnts.
