Jesse Walton Bond

, age 94 of Wesley Village in Macomb, IL., formerly of Sciota, IL., died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday October 7, 2010 in the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born July 28. 1916 in Bedford, Iowa, the son of Albert Henry and Mary Naomi Gibb Bond. On August 25, 1943, he married Grace M. Torrance in the Coldbrook Christian Church.

Mr. Bond farmed all of his life near Sciota, retiring in 1981. He was a former member of the Sciota and Smithshire United Methodist Churches, and a current member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the United Methodist Men, and sang for many years with the Singing Seniors of Macomb. He was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, and attending sporting events that involved family members.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Donna (Charles) Lefler of Stronghurst, IL., two sons - J.W. Bond of Blandinsville, IL., Bill (Lynne) Bond of Illinois City, IL., five grandchildren- Christine Lefler, Jess Bond, T.J. Bond, Jesse Bond, Brandy Bond, three great grandchildren- Tayler (Lefler) Johnson, A.J. Fleece, and Jayden Bond. He was preceded in death by one brother - Albert Henry Bond Jr., one sister - Vivian Funk, one daughter in infancy - Naomi Allene Bond, and one Grandson - Alan Lefler

Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Pastor Don Riley will officiate. Private committal of ashes will be held Saturday October 16, 2010 in the Raritan Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Wesley Village of Macomb.
