Mr. Jerry L. Gentry, 69, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 10:43AM Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

He was born on May 30, 1944 in Ft. Madison. He is the son of Homer Leon and Frildo Chewning Ikerd. On March 6, 1965 he married Anna Maisie Benda in Dallas City. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2011.

Jerry worked as an automotive technician for Knutstrom Chevrolet in Stronghurst, IL for many years. In 1985 he began working at Shottenkirk in Ft. Madison, retiring in 2009. Also, he and his wife owned and operated the Double G Restaurant in Ft. Madison from 1981-1992. Jerry enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, playing pool and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Gentry is survived by his father of Dallas City, two sons, Darin Gentry of Ft. Madison and Bryon Gentry of Ocean Springs, MS, one grandson, Trevor Keith Gentry and one sister Shawna Britton of Tomah, WI.

He was preceded in death by his mother, wife and one sister, Linda Nylin.

Services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery, Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00PM Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Ambulance Service.
