Obituary

Jerome Lee Arnold, age 73 of Fort Madison, Iowa, died at 5:55 A.M. Saturday November 17, 2007 in the Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Iowa. He was born March 12, 1934 in Raritan, Illinois, the son of Maurice Honk and Alice Ruebush Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was a graduate of Dallas City High School and St Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. He served in the United States Army in the 1950's. He spent many years in California after college managing a Bowling Alley, and excelling at the game. He returned to Burlington, Iowa and worked for many years before starting his own business, ServiceMaster of Fort Madison, and built it into a successful cleaning business for over 20 years. When he retired, he employed over forty employees.

He was an excellent bowler and golfer. He won the Burlington City Bowling Championship six years running. He won many golf championships at Shaeffer Golf Course and other area courses. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan. He was a kind and gentle man, whose wit, kindness, and inner strength prevailed to the end.

Survivors include two sisters- Shirley Ferrill of Dallas City, IL., Maureen (and Charles) Stump of Mendon, IL., and one brother - Joseph (and Andrea) Arnold of Dallas City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers - Thomas and James Arnold.
No visitation or services are planned. Cremation rites have been accorded. His ashes will be placed in Calvary Cemetery in Carthage, IL., at a later date. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Dallas City is assisting the family with arrangements.
