Jeffrey Duane Powell

Jeffrey Duane Powell, age 46 of Stronghurst, died at 7:55 p.m. Thursday September 15, 2011 at his home. He was born April 24, 1965 in Iaeger, West Virginia, the son of James Orville and Elizabeth Asbury Powell. On May 28, 2002, he married Melissa Carver in Tazewell, West Virginia.

Mr. Powell was an army veteran of the Gulf War, serving from 1986 to 1991. He was currently employed as Safety Director for PSSI Company in Mount Pleasant, Iowa and Kieler, Wisconsin. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, traveling, camping, and especially, spending time with his family. He loved playing the guitar, singing, and recording music with his best friend and cousin, Faren Mullins.

Survivors include his wife, his parents of Springfield, Virginia, three daughters- Emily (David) Yaronczyk of Fort Walton Beach, FL., Cheyenne Powell of Bittburg, Germany, Katelynn Shirley of Sarasota, FL., three sons- Daniel Powell of Trier, Germany, Seth and Shane Powell, both at home, four sisters- Donna (Roger) Kennedy of Beckley West Virginia, Pam Powell of Lebanon, Virginia, Sandy(Ronnie) McKinney and Sharon (Joe) Riffe, both of Princeton, West Virginia, and one brother- Ronnie Powell of Springfield, Illinois. He was preceded in death by one brother- Jamie Powell.

The funeral service for Mr. Powell will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 20, 2011 in the Stronghurst Christian Church with Revs. Kim Yaronczyk and Steve Minkler officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Church. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family with arrangements.
