Jean E. Willdrick

Mrs. Jean E. Scanlan Willdrick, 85, of Macomb, Illinois passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the Countryview Care Center in Macomb.

She was born in LaHarpe, Illinois on May 29, 1925, the daughter of Jesse M. and Charlotte E. Nelson Elston. She first married Lowell Scanlan. They later divorced. She later married Robert Willdrick. He preceded her in death in 1967.

Jean was raised in the Terre Haute, Illinois community and had also lived in Dallas City and Lomax before moving to Macomb over 40 years ago. She worked in housekeeping at WIU for many years and also cleaned at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb. She was a member of the Macomb VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her dog, Lucky.

Surviving are one son, Michael Scanlan of Colchester, Illinois, 2 granddaughters, Tammy (Todd Knowles) Scanlan of Macomb and Teresa (Richard) Friedman of Naperville, Illinois, and 3 great-grandchildren, Ceair Knowles of Macomb and Sophie and Emma Friedman of Naperville.

She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Susie Shoemate, Vera Painter and Miriam Hubbs and 2 brothers, Virgil Elston and Vernon Bill Elston.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Albert Long officiating. There will be no visitation. Banks & Beals Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for her granddaughter, Ceairs, education.
