Janet E. Monville, age 75, of Stronghurst, IL, formerly of Biggsville, IL, passed away at 1:04 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. She was born June 13, 1942 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Jack and Darlene Wood Kinslow.
Janet was a graduate of Biggsville High School, and received a Master's Degree in Human Resources from the University Of Texas. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years. Later she worked for the University of Maryland in Misawa, Japan. Most recently, she was Employer Representative for Unemployment Benefits for the state of Iowa, working out of the Des Moines County office. She served as mayor of Biggsville for many years and also served on the Henderson County Economic Development Commission. She was a former president of the Henderson County Youth Bowling Association and the Henderson County Women's Bowling Association. She was also past president of DARE of Southeast Iowa.
Survivors include two daughters, Janeen Sue Chambers of Oquawka, IL, Julie Shawn Smith of Kalamazoo, MI, three sons, James Scott (Penny) Rhinehart of Biggsville, Jeffrey Steven Smith and Jeremy Shane (Patty) Smith, both of Michigan City, IN, four grandchildren, Kelly Merideth, Michael Hurka, Nicole Kindig, and Danielle Rhinehart, three great grandchildren, Alex and Austin Merideth, and Kaden Parker, one brother, Jack (Jeanie) Kinslow of Columbus, OH, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Monville and one brother, in infancy, James Lee Kinslow.
Private burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. A public Celebration Of Life will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Monday February 5, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.
